Glass gap closure – commercial building in Berlin, Petersen Architekten, Dortmund/Berlin
Friedrichstrasse in Berlin has many faces. Its central section is considered the city’s premier shopping address, while further south it is lined with rather simple multi-storey residential buildings. The eight-storey, 1,640 m2 office building by Petersen Architekten is located at the intersection between the two sections of the street, just a few steps away from Checkpoint Charlie. While its use is more in keeping with the more northerly section of the street, the façade typology of the new building echoes the bay windows of the neighboring residential buildings.
The publication describes the project “F40“.
